Mandlebrot sets and fractals often remind me of the way that LSD or other intoxicants might reframe the mind to see things.  Knowing they can be measured, performed and graphed in a mathematic experience brings another element into the experience of such images.  Kaliedescopes come to mind as similar disarray and orientation.
